Graphic Novel Adaptation Assignment

When a time-travelling mad scientist accidentally kidnaps a rugby-loving church minister from the 1800s, they both land smack in the middle of a last-ditch effort to save mankind from an alien invasion.

site named this a Top Script, saying, ““The Chronic Argonauts” is excellent science-fiction. The script clearly has a mind to it, articulating its themes, but it does not get overly wordy and the discussions do not detract from the spectacle or the action. In fact, the script has the potential to be a great display of special effects and thrilling action. It can sometimes be a challenge for a movie to be both cerebral and visceral, intellectually stimulating and simply entertaining, but the script pulls it off.”

Winning script at The Nashville Film Festival screenplay competition (The NFF is one of the few Academy Award qualifying film festivals - Out of 7,000 film festivals worldwide, only 63 have Oscar-qualifying accreditation).

“A feel-good romantic comedy with an inviting setting, breezy tone and likeable characters. The plot is straightforward, but effective with some inventive moments, as it follows a road movie structure where our two love interests travel across the globe to reform a once-famous rock band in time for a reunion concert… It's a fun spin on a familiar romcom premise where dual protagonists, Jack and Maggie, embark on a mission to save Jack's failing diner by reuniting his old band. Their romance blossoms quickly, but it's based on a lie which threatens to break them apart once revealed. This adds a layer of tension to their relationship that keeps things interesting… There's clear potential for this project to thrive on any streaming platform with a wide demographic, especially given the age ranges of the characters. There aren't enough properties for actors in their sixties. It would be a great date movie. ” – Professional Coverage - RECOMMEND

"The Jack-O-Lanterns" is a fun and sweet script filled with heart and music. It's a feel-good story, with friendship blooming into something more as rock stars of the past discover they still have it, and they're still wanted. It all starts with Maggie, a smart, vivacious woman who is everything Jack needs, even if he didn't expect it. Maggie is clever and opinionated, with an insightful take on everything from classical poetry to the dilution of profanity through overuse. The script knows romance, even evident in the scene description. Lines like "It’s long and passionate. The way every first kiss should be. Doesn’t matter how old you are" show a skilled use of evocative language that comes across as well in the chemistry between the leads... "The Jack-O-Lanterns" is a charming script that could make for a fun movie... entertaining and engaging, especially for the lead characters."  - The Black List Evaluation

Limited Series Pilot

Sunday Morning Comin' Down

When a New York City preacher takes a pulpit position in rural Alabama, he must find a way to nurture and grow a church flock in the midst of a continual series of small town crises and the locals’ mistrust of outsiders.

"Surprisingly entertaining and endearing! Religious aspects are presented in a way that does not come off as preachy or one sided. This is a project that just about anyone can enjoy. The highlights of this pilot offer entertainment for the whole family." - Professional Coverage - CONSIDER
"SUNDAY MORNING COMIN' DOWN is a faith-based drama centered around a strong and loving father thrown into an unknown world. Sunday is a great protagonist because he's a true fish out of water. His relationship with his daughter makes him extremely likable so the audience will be invested in his success. The opening scene sets up the pilot well. In just one interaction the themes of the series are established and the obstacles that Sunday is going to face are clear. The surprising reveal that Sunday is in town to stay is quite entertaining and fun. The pilot is a smooth, enjoyable read and the dialogue is very natural. The tension between Sunday and the people of the town is clear but it's not over the top and therefore stays realistic. There is also an underlying mystery about why Cilly has such a big problem with Pastor Allread which is exciting. The audience will be anxious to find out what could have happened to create such a conflict. The relationship between Sunday and May is the strongest element of the script. The dynamics between a white father and a black daughter are complicated and important to explore. The way society perceives them in a small, southern town opens up a lot of places the story could go, especially as May grows up."  - The Black List Evaluation

Two sisters (who've refused to speak to each other for the last twenty years) are conned by their "gravely ill" mother into taking "one last family camping trip" to Georgia's historic Stone Mountain.

"Annabella and her daughters make for some splendidly attractive roles for three actors to take on, as their conflicted bonds and apparent love for each other deliver some notable motifs that could resonate with a wide-ranging, streamer-centric audience. The premise is akin to THE ROYAL TENENBAUMS & POSTCARDS FROM THE EDGE regarding the family dynamics & bickering (albeit with a more lighthearted ambiance), being ideal for a platform with a knack for similar dramatic comedies, such as Netflix and Hulu. The minimal budgetary requirements make the script a low-risk high-reward project, especially with how the leading roles could showcase some talented performers. - The Black List Evaluation
